Here are two very basic truths from the Gospel of John:
“Jesus performed many other signs in the presence of his
disciples, which are not recorded in this book. But these are written that you
may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing
you may have life in his name” (John 20:30-31).
“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved
you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my
disciples, if you love one another” (John 13:34-35).
The first passage is what Jesus did and why He did it: “That
you may believe.”
The second is what we are to do and why: “All men will know
that you are my disciples.”
